June Is Pride Month (And So Much More) - Let’s Talk About It!
As June is Pride Month, as well as Canadian National Indigenous History month there is a recognized need to provide services in areas that may seem more unreachable. To provide resources to a population that may not have otherwise been given access to information is an important part of prevention education. This gives the opportunity to educators and those who work with these populations to create spaces where community members can be authentically themselves. While we are using the Empowering (You)th program to highlight issues and concerns within the LGBTQIA+ and First Nation communities, striving for inclusion every day is a paramount practice.
Here is the lineup for June's programs:
June 3rd, First Nation People (Native Americans)- Myths and Realities of SUD (Presentation Published on our YouTube Channel)
June 10th, Breaking Down the Conversation Around Gender Identity and Substance Use Disorders
June 17th, Sexuality and Providing Resources to Youth
June 24th, Words Matter- How Using Certain Words Hurts and Helps Marginalized Youth
