Youth Coalition of Mercer County

Our mission

The Youth Coalition of Mercer County (YCMC) is committed to empowering youth with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to live substance-free lives. Through education, prevention, leadership, and community engagement, we strive to foster healthy minds, bodies, and spirits for all youth in Mercer County.

Who Can Join

Youth ages 13-18 who reside in Mercer County are eligible to join YCMC. Meetings will be monthly held at the Mercer Council office: 1931 Brunswick Ave., Lawrence Township, NJ 08648

YCMC Focus

The focus of YCMC is to inspire teens to live a substance free and healthy lifestyle. Teens will learn about substance prevention (opioids, marijuana, tobacco, and alcohol) as well as healthy lifestyle choices that they can achieve.

Community Service Hours

Community service hours are available throughout the year for our YCMC members. These hours can be used for school requirements as well as college and job applications.

What We Do

Sticker Shock is a campaign to educate those over the age of 21 about the consequences of proving alcohol to minors. Local liquor stores throughout the community participate, allowing us to place bright stickers on alcohol containers.

YCMC members will participate in tobacco merchant education visits throughout Mercer County, where they learn about federal and New Jersey tobacco laws while helping educate retailers on preventing youth access to tobacco products.

Youth will be able to table in their community with Mercer Council staff to educate the public about the youth coalition.

Youth will be able to help plan, organize, and volunteer for International Overdose Awareness Day that is held in August.

Incorruptible.Us Mercer County

Incorruptible.Us is a statewide student movement empowering young people across New Jersey to take a stand against Big Tobacco and the vaping industry. Tobacco companies spend billions of dollars each year marketing their products, and that constant exposure has contributed to rising youth nicotine use.

Incorruptible.Us Mercer County empowers local students to raise their voices, promote healthier schools, and create positive change in their communities. Through advocacy projects, social media campaigns, and leadership opportunities, students gain valuable leadership experience, earn community service hours, and help shape a healthier future for Mercer County youth.
