Mercer Council's OORP Program Gets Stunning Review!
Mercer Council was visited on May 14th, by 3 individuals from the State of New Jersey, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services, who are involved at the state level in the Opioid Overdose Recovery Program (OORP). DMHAS representatives at Mercer Council's monthly OORP meeting, sung their praise for Mercer Council's OORP program, indicating in 2018, Mercer Council successfully linked 48.2% of individuals seen in Mercer emergency departments for Narcan reversal through the program to some form of clinical treatment. This statistic makes Mercer Council's OORP in the top 2 programs out of 21 counties in New Jersey. Mercer Council's OORP program was 1 of 2 that ranked in the top 5 on more than 1 success measure. DMHAS's presence at the meeting led to an important conversation about the successes and challenges of facilitating this critical, life saving program with the hopes of further problem solving for increased effectiveness and positive outcomes. Mercer Council takes great pride in offering this amazing program to the community and will continue to deliver effective, compassionate and sensitive services with integrity, passion and dedication. We thank DMHAS for making OORP available to the State of New Jersey and to all of our community partners who work tirelessly to assist in our fight to end the revolving door of opioid addiction!
